Batteries
The basic elements of the vehicles electrical system are often ignored or assumed to be 'ok' during vehicle diagnostics. Yet, they are the first thing one should check for proper operation before proceeding with any further diagnostics.
Today's vehicle manufacturers make extensive use of electronics, electronic sensors, actuators and so on, and yet, very few people start their diagnostic session by checking the most basic and vital element - the battery.
On this pages we will try to explain and demonstrate how those basic elements of the vehicle's electrical system operate in modern vehicles. Here you'll find pictures, waveforms, theory of operation and ways of testing them. Be aware that some of the pages can be very long and slow to download.
